There seems to be a good chance that DMS can be readily formed by other than biological sources. This story about K2-18b , as it notes, goes back to the first observation of DMS with this planet in 2023. But what they don't mention, at least in this report, is that DMS has also been found with a comet*.

It is a pretty hard sell to seriously suggest that DMS is a strong indicator of life, unless one has some very serious ideas of abiogenesis on comets, which seems rather unlikely.
